Following the recruitment of our newest team member, Rachael, we’re excited to be launching a new programme over the coming year as part of our More than Bricks and Mortar work at the CLT.

Neighbourhood as an Incubator is designed to develop local community business ideas by offering creative learning spaces, mentoring and support to nurture business ideas that address the needs and desires in our neighbourhood.

What is Neighbourhood as Incubator all about?

We believe our community deserves a thriving high street with spaces for all of us to live, work and play together. The Neighbourhood as an Incubator programme is an opportunity for local people and groups in Anfield and Everton to explore ideas and potential community business opportunities and help bring the buzz back to our neighbourhood.

We understand that in the early stages of business design, the kind of help that people need (and often can’t find elsewhere) is about building confidence, learning how to develop and trial an idea, creating support networks, and, most importantly, learning and encouragement from  peers.  So we’ve created the Neighbourhood as Incubator programme to do just that.

Running until April 2025 and supported by the National Lottery, the programme will be community-led and delivered through a series of group creative learning sessions, 1-2-1 mentoring, coaching, and study visits.

Who’s the programme designed for?

We’re looking for individuals and groups in the Anfield and Everton area who have a new or existing community business or social enterprise idea that they want to develop further. We’ll work with you to understand the direction you want to take your idea in, offer support and guidance that is tailor-made, and connect you with wider opportunities such as grants, networking, and funding streams.

If you answer yes to any of the following, Neighbourhood as an Incubator might be for you:

  • Are you in the infancy stages of a business idea or vision that you want to develop further?

  • Do you have an idea that has social objectives, driven by addressing social or environmental issues?

  • Would you benefit from grassroots-style learning: a style that has a bottom-up approach, where learning is driven by your needs and interests?

  • Are you running a business venture and would like to improve how you work or put your resources into a new activity or project?

  • Would you benefit from peer working practices such as action learning and group support?

Who is the programme not designed for?

  • This isn’t a business school with any form of qualification once completed. The programme will be co-designed with each participant.

  • Anyone who doesn’t live or work in Anfield or Everton.

  • Business ideas that do not have a social impact focus, we are not looking for business ideas that are solely for profit purposes only.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Neighbourhood as Incubator application process opening in June! Until then, if you have any questions, get in touch with Rachael: rachael.treacher@homebaked.org.uk
